Working alongside Hani at the university has been a truly inspiring experience, both professionally and artistically.

Hani is an amazing artist and teacher! I have been taking classical Arabic singing classes with him for over a year. I find his lessons to be the perfect balance of challenging, informative, and entertaining. He curated a program that is perfect for my singing/knowledge level, and upon following it i am making significant progress, so I plan to continue learning with him for as long as I can. In addition to his efficient pedagogy, Hani is very patient and accommodating to changing schedules, which is something i deeply appreciate as someone who does not always have a fixed schedule. I recommend him to anyone because he has something to offer to all levels.

As a student who had the opportunity to work with Hani Al Dahshan through individual Arabic singing sessions, and later as a performer in a musical theatre production directed by him, I can genuinely say that my experience with him was both inspiring and deeply valuable.
What impressed me most about Hani as an educator is his ability to simplify complex aspects of Arabic singing, particularly maqamat, tarab, phrasing, and interpretation, and make them clear, practical, and easy to absorb. His method combines explanation with demonstration: he performs, breaks down the musical phrase, and allows the student to listen, imitate, experiment, and gradually develop their own interpretation.
Although I already had experience performing tarab music, his approach encouraged me to go back to the fundamentals and pay attention to details I might otherwise overlook. His teaching made me enjoy the learning process itself; every session felt engaging, enriching, and genuinely enjoyable.
My experience with Hani as a director showed me another remarkable quality: his ability to recognize a performer’s value and understand where they can truly shine. Rather than restricting the performer to a fixed interpretation, he creates space for artistic freedom while providing thoughtful artistic direction when needed.
I particularly remember him giving me the songs and their maqamat and encouraging me to perform them in my own way—to shape, extend, and interpret them freely—before giving me his notes. This freedom had a direct impact on my creativity and performance. To me, a great director is someone who knows how to guide without restricting, correct without erasing individuality, and direct without taking away the artist’s own voice. This is something Hani does exceptionally well.
Through my experience with him, I also recognized that, even before completing his academic journey, Hani demonstrated a level of artistic maturity, practical knowledge, communication, and professional readiness that makes him well suited to arts education. His strength lies not only in his knowledge, but in his ability to transmit it, simplify it, understand the learner, recognize their strengths, and encourage their individual artistic identity.
I am grateful to have experienced Hani both as an educator and as a director. If I were given the opportunity to work with him again, I would not hesitate to say yes.

Hani is an amazing singer, musician, teacher, and, most importantly, an incredible human being. He is honest, sincere, incredibly generous with his time and knowledge, and truly cares about helping you grow as a vocalist and a musician.
When Hani teaches you a song or a piece, he teaches it to you to the T with the details, nuances, phrasing, and feeling that make all the difference. His voice and his teaching come straight from the golden age, and there is something very special about learning from someone who carries that depth of musical knowledge and experience.
He is truly a gem. When Hani is your mentor, you know you are in very good hands. I honestly cannot say enough about my experience with him. If you have the opportunity to learn from Hani, take it. You’re lucky when Hani is your teacher.

I personally take traditional Arabic singing and oud lessons with Mr. Hany, and I have been on a very interesting and rewarding musical journey with him.
He himself is an outstanding singer and musician, and his mentorship is absolutely splendid. I especially appreciate the way he accentuates every little detail with great accuracy, while still keeping the lessons enjoyable with his humor and personality.
